My Approach

Hi, I’m Dayna Schroeder.

I am a single mother to two wonderful boys and when I am not working, I enjoy backpacking & camping, playing pickleball, taking walks with our French Bulldog, yoga, my morning coffee, taking an afternoon nap, binging on a limited series, reading nonfiction, and having a good belly laugh with friends.

For some time, I have been intentional about finding ways to change my unhealthy learned patterns and heal from my past. The idea of obtaining my graduate degree emerged after a significant life transition and years of living and coping with childhood and adult trauma, anxiety, postpartum and adjustment depression, ADHD, codependency, & lack of self-esteem.

I received a Master’s degree from George Fox University, completing coursework focused on Individual Counseling & Marriage, Couples, & Family Systems Counseling, including preparation training for an option to acquire dual licensure as both an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Marriage & Farmily Therapist (LMFT).

Additionally, I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have relational training in Gottman Method Levels 1 & 2. I utilize modalities such as Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Trauma Informed, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which includes Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Mindfulness, Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT).

Ways of Being Counseling integrates a thoughtful blend of evidence-based, client-centered therapeutic solutions while enduring compassion and humor, when appropriate, to build a genuine relationship founded in trust.

Whether you believe something is missing in your life, feel disconnected from friends and loved ones, are exploring your self-relationship, are struggling with a life-altering trauma, are contending with anxiety or loss, or are hurting in a way you can’t identify and alleviate on your own I welcome you to explore your Ways of Being, whether past or current and make vital connections within your story, and learn and grow from those connections.

In your exploration, I will ensure you are comfortable and that I meet your needs so you can recognize our sessions as a supporting space. I will offer my authenticity and tenacity as we find the roots of your pain so you can create new pathways that lead to your story of healing and empowerment.
